Dear Donald Trump,During the video "Dear Donald Trump", Adriana Almanza is the speaker who is speaking on the behalf of her father, to Donald Trump. A man who has recently said many things that have angered the Hispanic community, with his racial generalizations on the undocumented Mexican immigrants. Adriana used the appeal to the viewer’s emotions to reach out to her audience most efficiently throughout the video. She starts off her video by introducing her father, in a scene where they are right next to each other hugging and smiling. By introducing her father, the viewer is able to sympathize with Adriana, by seeing the father-daughter love that they both share. "My dad has worked five to six days a week since I was a child and I've never heard him complain about it one time" (0.54) said, Adriana, anyone that works knows how it feels and knows that it takes a lot of hard work throughout the majority of the week. The viewer then feels bad and knows that the man is a hard worker that provides for his family. Throughout the video Adriana shows home pictures of her father and family, this strategy allows the viewer to take a glimpse into the speaker’s life. This allows the viewers like us to feel, closer to the speaker in a way we could not have it the pictures were not shown, instead of the speaker feeling as though she were a complete stranger. She welcomes the viewers into her personal life. She later finishes off her video by saying “Perhaps you should get to know more people like my dad, there are millions just like him. Then you’d see for yourself instead of bashing Mexico, you’d thank Mexico for sending us their best.” by “their best”(1.57) she is referring back to the speech Donald trump gave when he stated, “When Mexico sends us its people, they’re not sending us their best”. With this, she appeals to the viewers by showing how she feels towards Donald Trump’s accusations and showing that he was wrong for his speech because she was ale to bestow a man that was the was the complete opposite of what Donald Trump stated in his speech. One way she could’ve improved her emotion appeal to the view is by changing her facial expression during the video. For the majority of the video, Adriana’s voice and facial expressions were monotone. By doing this, it didn’t help much with the emotional appeal because the speaker didn’t express any change in facial expression to express her anger, frustration or any emotion she was feeling at the time. She was probably proud to prove her point of view to Donald Trump thus she had one type of facial expression and tone the entire video. Overall her emotional appeal to the viewers of her video were very effective in creating a successful video, which went against Donald Trump and his views on the undocumented Mexicans.
